New Sign Being Designed

Hooked On Fishing is hoping to purchase and install some new signage on our existing fence. Thanks to Jim Frey, who created this computer rendering of the new sign, we can see how the new addition will look.  It should be easily visible from the highway, and it should greatly increase our visiblity to passers by.

Whitewashed Tree Trunks

One of the recently completed projects at the Hooked on Fishing Park is the whitewashing of the tree trunks. If you are old enough to remember the Dixon fish ponds as they were in the 1950’s and 1960’s, you may remember the whitewashed tree trunks. Apparently this tradition comes from the deep South where whitewashed tree trunks were quite common. This common practice was a cultural tradition in the South, and often was also practiced on military installations. The next time you are at the park, be sure to notice the distinctive white washed tree trunks on the trees that surround the ponds.

Fun at Hooked on Fishing

Some of our visitors over Labor Day weekend furnished us with some pictures to document the fun they had at Hooked on Fishing.  From the looks of the pictures the fish were biting that day.

Fall is Nice Time to Visit Hooked on Fishing Park

Fall is a great time to visit the Hooked on Fishing Park.  A lot of effort has gone into grooming the park this summer.  Everything is mowed and trimmed, and the weeds are pulled.  With the weather cooling a bit it is a nice time to get in some fishing in one of our ponds. We recently stocked more catfish and bluegill so the fishing should be good.  We continue to schedule groups to come and enjoy a few hours of fishing. Several of the local nursing homes have been bringing residents to enjoy the fishing experience.
